Bridgestone reaches agreement to retain Italian site

Agreement will see the transfer of some tire production from Asia to the site to improve productivity and lift overall output

Bridgestone has decided that it will retain a site in Bari (Italy) after threatening its closure, reports Rubber News. The company said that this was as a result of an agreement reached with the Italian government and union officials on a conversion plan. The company said in a statement, "This agreement indicates the possibility to maintain important industrial activities in Bari, under conditions to achieve the targeted levels of productivity and cost through the implementation of the commitments made by the above mentioned parties."
