GM and PSA announce first tangible element of their plans to manufacture cars at joint production locations as they look to improve capacity utilisation across Europe.

General Motors (GM) and PSA Peugeot-Citroën have announced that they will undertake their first joint production programme as part of their alliance, with MPV-B models from both companies being manufactured at GM's Opel plant in Zaragoza, Spain from 2016, according to a company statement. The production alliance at Zaragoza is the first joint production programme to be announced by GM and PSA since the two companies announced revised details of a shared model development programme at the end of last year. The research and development (R&D) programme for the vehicle design and architecture will be the responsibility of Opel's R&D centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany, with PSA being responsible for supplying the powertrains for the new model range.
