Plans to invest around JPY40 billion (USD400 million) to raise capacity in Indiana, USA by 50% to around 400,000 units by FY 2016/17.

Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru cars, is expected to produce an all-time-high global output of nearly 800,000 units for the fiscal year (FY) ending March 2014, reports financial daily the Nikkei. This would mean a 5% year-on-year (y/y) increase or 40,000 additional units than originally planned by the automaker. FHI will raise domestic output from the planned 594,000 units to around 640,000 units – a new record since FY 1986/87 when it produced 619,000 units – but will not increase its US production during this fiscal year.
