Jeep Cherokee deliveries still delayed on transmission woes
Adaptive shift logic is not yet delivering the smooth response Jeep expects
Jeep has not yet shipped the all-new Cherokee model, although it has resumed full production and built more than 12,000 units, according to a Detroit News report. The company is still working to resolve issues with the nine-speed transmission's shift logic. Reportedly, the adaptive shift logic is not yet delivering the smooth response Jeep expects; the company is using factory workers to conduct test drives and isolate the problem. In an email to the Detroit News, Chrysler's vice-president of communications said, "The company will not ship vehicles until we are fully satisfied the Cherokee meets customer expectations for performance, refinement, and quality." Once the calibration is validated, Chrysler says deploying the fix across those vehicles already produced will be done quickly. The Cherokee goes to market with an all-new transmission, two new powertrains, and three advanced four-wheel-drive systems.
