Fall in Europe’s gasoline refining capacity to further weaken position

The growth of diesel engine sales in passenger cars, which has been a feature of the European market for the past two decades, is likely to stagnate as a result of increasingly stringent emissions regulations and the high cost of technology aimed at making diesel powertrains meet those regulations, according to a number of leading industry engineers.
