Nissan begins production of second-generation Rogue in US
IHS Automotive forecasts Nissan's 2013 North American production to reach 1.46 million units, increasing to 1.97 million units by 2020.
Nissan has moved production of the second-generation Rogue from Japan to Tennessee (US), with the first Rogue rolling off the line today (16 October). Nissan also boasts that the first Rogue was the 10-millionth vehicle produced at its Smyrna facility in the US, which opened in 1983. The shift is part of a Nissan plan to build 85% of US-sold vehicles in North America. The Smyrna plant builds the Rogue, Altima, Maxima, Pathfinder, Leaf, and Infiniti QX60, as well as producing lithium-ion battery modules for the Leaf.
