Infiniti investment to bring suppliers to Sunderland, UK
New Infiniti model is likely to require different types of components in areas such as interior and trim to meet the standards of the audience it is targeting.
Nissan's decision to build its new Infiniti compact hatchback at its Sunderland (United Kingdom) site is expected to induce more suppliers to invest locally, reports the Financial Times (FT). The chief investment officer at Sunderland city council Tom Hurst told the newspaper, "We have at least two inquiries from companies, which aren't located in the north east, from outside the UK." He also said that discussions have started with a number of companies already located in the area, adding, "There's definitely scope for growing the supply base."
