Bridgestone is seeking to consolidate domestic output of steel cord for tyres at its Saga plant in order to achieve production efficiencies and strengthen its global competitiveness.

Bridgestone today (17 October) outlined its new mid-term management plan covering five years from 2014 to 2018, in its bid to become a truly global company and achieve "Dan-Totsu" status (meaning "the best of the best" in Japanese) in all of its business domains. The well-defined plan encompasses three priority areas: cultivating a global corporate culture; developing human resources capable of global management; and upgrading the global management structure.
