Tesla selects AT&T as internet provider.
Will allow two-way connections for roadside assistance and stolen-vehicle location, as well as internet access, navigation, and entertainment.
Tesla has selected AT&T to provide internet services for its electric cars, making the vehicles capable of being a mobile hotspot for any devices inside. AT&T confirmed that all Tesla cars come equipped with AT&T network chips, allowing two-way connections for roadside assistance and stolen-vehicle location, as well as internet access, navigation, and entertainment, delivered on Tesla's standard 17-inch touch screen. Tesla's functions rely on the cellular system, although Tesla does not currently charge data fees.
