MQB architecture is a cornerstone of VW's corporate strategy for the next decade.

The Volkswagen (VW) Group's chief financial officer (CFO) Hans Dieter Pötsch has said that the much-talked-about MQB modular architecture which underpins the mainstream front wheel drive models such as the VW Golf is already saving the company cash. According to a Reuters report, Pötsch dismissed the concerns of some analysts that MQB had been more expensive to implement than VW anticipated and that its benefits had been overstated by the company. Instead he claimed the new MQB modular platform is already helping to cut costs and will be an important component of the company's drive to maintain EBIT margins going forward.
