Russia's ZiL to begin production of Fiat Ducato LCVs in Q1 2014

Targeting output of 40,000 units a year from 2015.

Russian vehicle manufacturer and assembler ZiL has agreed a deal with Fiat to begin assembly of the latter's Ducato light commercial vehicle (LCV) in April 2014. According to a Skrin newswire report ZiL will manufacturer the model at its plant in Moscow, with the project having the full backing of the Moscow city authorities. A source close to the deal said that ZiL's plant is currently being readied for production of completely knocked down (CKD) kits of the Ducato. The first kit will be transported to the plant in January ready for assembly to begin in April.
