Volvo Cars planning to transfer some component production in-house
Could result in component cost savings of between 5% and 10%.
Volvo Cars is intending to transfer some of its component production in-house, reports Dagens Industri. Senior vice-president of purchasing and manufacturing Lars Wrebo told the newspaper that it would undertake the move as it has struggled to understand how a company outside of its Torslanda (Sweden) plant could undertake assembly and logistics better. He added that it has already begun studying potential areas where this can take place, although it is expected to be a long-term process as new models are launched.
