Winterkorn says Russia is the number one strategic growth market in Europe for the group.

The Volkswagen (VW) Group will invest EUR1.2 billion (USD1.62 billion) in its Russian operations between now and 2018 as it hopes to reinvigorate the growth it has previously experienced in the market, according to a Dow Jones Institutional news report. The company has already invested a total of EUR1.3 billion in the Russian market between 2006 and 2013 and the company is set to actually increase its investment level on an annual basis over the next five years.
