Verso to become first Toyota model to be powered by BMW diesel engine
BMW's diesel engine technology to give Toyota vehicles near class leading emissions and fuel consumption figures and access to Euro-V-compliant diesel technology.
The first tangible fruits of the alliance between BMW and Toyota have been announced, with the news that the current Toyota Verso will get the option of BMW's 1.6-litre diesel powertrain from January 2014. According to an Autocar report, the Verso 1.6 D-4D model will go into production next month at Toyota's Adapazari facility in Turkey. It is the first Toyota model to receive a BMW diesel powertrain; the German OEM supplying Toyota with its latest diesel engines is a key component of the technical alliance between the two companies.
