Renault's agreement with Indomobil marks its entry into Indonesia, where it has been considering manufacturing since 2007.

French carmaker Renault has started shipping completely knocked-down (CKD) kits of its Duster sport utility vehicle (SUV) to Indonesia from the company's Chennai plant in Tamil Nadu, India, reports The Hindu. In September, Renault signed a deal with Indonesian vehicle manufacturer PT Indomobil Sukses International (Indomobil) to assemble and sell Renault vehicles in the country. The Duster will be assembled at Indomobil's Jakarta plant. Separately, Japanese automaker Toyota plans to establish 14 new sales outlets in Indonesia next year, with an investment of up to 30 billion rupiah (USD2.5 million) per outlet.
