IHS claims the Corolla will account for more than one-fifth of Toyota's overall light-vehicle production in South Africa this year.

Japanese automaker Toyota is set to make a major investment in its Isipingo vehicle manufacturing plant near Durban in South Africa, reports Independent Online. The investment will go towards production of the next-generation Corolla sedan. The details of the investment plan, including the capital involved and timelines, have not yet been disclosed and are to be announced next month. Apart from the Corolla, Toyota also manufactures the Fortuner sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Hilux Vigo pick-up, the Ses'fikile van, and the Yaris hatchback at the Isipingo plant.
