NHTSA requests fire investigation records from Tesla
Request is part of the NHTSA's usual investigatory process.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened a preliminary investigation into reported battery fires in the Tesla Model S electric vehicle and has formally requested that the automaker submits detailed records. Typical of any investigation, NHTSA has asked for all customer complaints, field reports, warranty claims, and property damage claims to assess the defect allegations.
