Nissan works to improve longevity of LEAF battery pack

Could go into production at Nissan's Leaf and battery module assembly plant in Smyrna, Tennessee (United States) in the first half of 2014

Nissan is working to create a longer-lasting battery pack for its Leaf electric vehicle (EV) by altering its chemical composition, reports the Automotive News. The proposed change in the battery's chemistry, which is still under review, should make the lithium ion battery more resilient to hot-weather ageing, according to Billy Hayes, vice president of Nissan's global EV business.
