AvtoVAZ to launch five new models by 2017

Confirms previously announced plans and reaffirms the fact that AvtoVAZ, along with its owner-in-waiting Renault-Nissan, is developing much-needed new Lada models

AvtoVAZ will launch five distinct new Lada models by the beginning of 2017 according to the head of the firm's press service. Alexander Schmygov was quoted in a Skrin newswire report as saying, "The first car should be a sedan with the name Lada B (2180). This car must replace the Lada Priora. Term of serial production start is 2015-16. Currently, the production is being prepared." Schmygov also stated that design and development engineers were currently working on the new B-hatch model, which he said would be the brand's main model in terms of modernising its range and improving its image, while the company is also working on a crossover version of the same model, the B-Cross SUV.
