Honda to double production capacity in Pakistan
News comes as the Government prepares a new 5 year auto industry policy in a bid to attract investment from foreign OEMs.
Honda plans to double its annual production capacity in Pakistan to 100,000 units, reports the Express Tribune. To this end, the company has already purchased a piece of land adjacent to its Lahore factory, which currently produces the City and Civic sedans. Honda has not yet revealed the capital requirements or timelines for the new expansion project. Production at the Lahore plant was last enhanced in 2006, when Honda invested PKR167 million (USD2.7 million) to boost capacity to the current level of 50,000 units a year.
