Renault and Dongfeng confirm Chinese production JV due to start in 2016

Wuhan plant to be established through the new JV will be Renault’s first factory in China.

French carmaker Renault has confirmed that it will begin producing cars in collaboration with its Chinese joint venture (JV) partner Dongfeng Motor, in 2016, reports Dow Jones. Under the 50:50 JV, the two partners have formed a new company, namely Dongfeng Renault Automotive Company (DRAC), with an initial capital investment of CNY7.8 million (USD1.3 billion). Early this month, Renault received approval for its new Chinese JV from the National Development and Reform Commission
