Mitsubishi Electric to boost Thai output of parts for eco-friendly vehicles
Seeks capacity to supply turbo actuators for 2 million vehicles a year
Mitsubishi Electric plans to increase production of parts for environmentally friendly vehicles in Thailand from the first quarter of 2014, reports financial daily the Nikkei. The company has invested heavily to expand capacity at its Thai plant in Rayong province, which manufactures turbo actuators that make rotation more efficient in turbocharger-equipped engines. Mitsubishi Electric reportedly makes turbo actuators only at the Thai plant and at another plant in Hyogo Prefecture in Japan. By 2016, it aims to be able to supply turbo actuators for 2 million vehicles a year – twice as many as today.
