Toyota has started producing the Vios sedan at its new Indonesian plant in Karawang, West Java, reports the Jakarta Post. Currently, Toyota imports the Vios from Thailand for sale in Indonesia. Toyota plans to manufacture 1,000 units of the sedan every month in Indonesia. The Indonesian-produced Vios will initially be sold only in the domestic market. Toyota officially opened the new Karawang plant, which is its second in Indonesia, earlier this year with an initial capital investment of IDR3.3 trillion (USD339.2 million). The plant has an initial production capacity of 70,000 units per annum.
