Daimler confirms local production of new Mercedes C-Class in China, Germany, US, and South Africa

IHS Automotive forecasts that the C-Class will continue to be the brand's best-selling vehicle.

Daimler confirmed it will begin local production in China of the new C-Class sedan. In a statement sent to IHS Automotive, company spokesperson Senol Bayrak confirmed Daimler's plans. The German Handelsblatt magazine quoted Daimler's head of production Andreas Renschler, stating that Daimler wants the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class to be produced in China, Germany, the United States, and South Africa. In the next two years, the company will invest EUR2 billion (USD2.73 billion) in the expansion of its production network necessary for bringing in the new model.
