Automakers exploring use of magnesium in vehicles to lower weight
Price and sourcing major hurdles; Ford claims magnesium can reduce vehicle weight by 20%
The auto industry, which is currently using high-strength steels, aluminum and carbon fibre to reduce the overall weight of vehicles, is now focusing on magnesium also for the same purpose, according to a report by Green Car Reports.
