Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) rules out Evoque production in India for the time being
JLR currently assembles the Jaguar XF and Land Rover Freelander at the Pune plant.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has stated that it has no plans to assemble its Range Rover Evoque model in India, reports local UK newspaper the Liverpool Echo. The luxury carmaker was responding to comments by a senior executive from JLR's parent company Tata Motors at a press briefing at its Pune vehicle manufacturing plant in India. Ranjit Yadav, president of Tata Motors' Passenger Car Business Unit, had stated, "The [Pune] plant can produce quite a level of Freelanders. We can assemble any vehicle here," with Girish Wagh, Tata Motors' vice-president, project management, adding, "We have plans to assemble [the] Evoque in Pune." However, a JLR spokeswoman stated that there are no such plans to start assembling the Evoque in India.
