Ford, General Motors (GM) plan longer holiday shutdowns
While Chrysler reports indicate production will be added over the holiday
General Motors (GM) and Ford both plan for several plants to have extra downtime during the holiday season, reducing inventory levels going into 2014. Some of the plants staying closed beyond a typical 2–6 January re-start are also those that will be preparing for new-model launches in 2014.
