Ford could reassess UK operations if EU exit takes place
Odell's comments follow the stance that Nissan has previously taken on the matter.
senior Ford executive has said that the automaker could reassess its manufacturing presence in the United Kingdom if the country chose to exit the European Union (EU). Stephen Odell, the president of the automaker's Europe, Middle East and Africa operations told the Daily Telegraph, "It cannot make any sense [to leave the EU]… Yes, there are absolutely some rules and regulations, in the minutiae, that are difficult to take, particularly if you're from Britain, which was, after all, this island state for years… but I don't think that's a reason to turn your back on your largest trading partner." Odell added, "People say, 'That's OK, you'll still be able to trade with the EU' – but only if you comply [with EU regulations] without a voice into the process.
