Infiniti to develop joint platform with Daimler for four new models
Shared platform and architecture programme key to Infiniti's plans to turn around new vehicle development more quickly.
The Renault-Nissan alliance collaboration with Daimler looks likely to be further extended, with plans to for Nissan's premium brand, Infiniti, to collaborate with Mercedes-Benz cars on a new platform, reports the Financial Times (FT). The first vehicle to be built on the all-new architecture will debut in 2017 if the project comes to fruition, according to the head of Infiniti, Johan de Nysschen. He said: "We are looking at a versatile platform for larger vehicles, both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, that could form the basis for sedans and SUVs."
