Mazda to produce the latest Mazda3 in Japan as well as Mexico, Thailand and China

Mazda plans to produce the latest iteration of its bestselling model, the Mazda3 compact (sold as the Axela in Japan), at all three of its main overseas production bases – Mexico, Thailand and China – in addition to Japan, reports financial daily The Nikkei. Domestically, the Mazda3 is manufactured at a factory in Hofu in Japan's Yamaguchi Prefecture. Mazda started churning out the Mazda3 at its new factory in Salamanca, Guanajuato (Mexico), earlier this month. The Japanese automaker plans to start producing the car in Thailand at its joint venture (JV) factory with Ford next month. In China, Mazda3 production is expected to start at the Nanjing plant later this year.
