But light commercial vehicle output falls by 4.7%

Spanish passenger car production rose by 11.7% year-on-year (y/y) during 2013, according to the latest data published by ANFAC. The trade association showed in a press release that the number of passenger cars built during the year increased to 1,719,700. The total was helped by a 6.4% y/y increase in the final month of the year, bringing the month's total to 98,032 units. However, sport utility vehicle (SUV) production retreated heavily during the year, falling by 37.0% y/y, to 34,968 units, as output in December tumbled 46.7% y/y, to 1,682 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCV) output also slid in 2013; the total fell 4.7% y/y, to 192,731 units, although earlier declines were partly offset by a 17.6% y/y improvement during the final month's production of 13,435 units.
