The plan entails appointing, in April, a director who would be responsible for integrating the production departments of both automakers so that all manufacturing facilities within the alliance are flexible enough to produce both brands.

Nissan and Renault are apparently looking to take their alliance to a new level by bringing together production as well as research and development in a bid to save as much as JPY400bn (USD3.8bn) annually in costs, reports financial daily The Nikkei without citing sources.
