Japanese vehicle output rises 14.5% y/y in January, exports dip 4.9%

Japanese domestic vehicle output continued to build upon the recent positive momentum in January, increasing for the fifth consecutive month, as automakers ramped up production to meet an anticipated rise in vehicle demand ahead of the consumption tax hike scheduled for April.

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers' Association (JAMA) released its vehicle production and export data for January.
