US EPA finalises "Tier 3" emissions standards
Standards also put the onus on oil refiners to reduce the sulphur content in fuel so that catalytic converters work more effectively.
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has finalised stricter tailpipe emissions standards, reports Automotive News. The "Tier 3" emissions standards mandate that automakers cut tailpipe emissions in new cars by 70–80%, starting in 2017.
