Nelson Global Products has announced its expansion into Mexico with a new manufacturing and distribution facility in Monterrey, Mexico (city of Garcia, state of Nuevo Leon). Full production is scheduled for mid May and will serve the major commercial truck, off-highway and recreational vehicle manufacturers that have production facilities in the region.
The company will manufacture precision formed tubing and sheet metal structural fabrications, along with exhaust tubing, mufflers, and emissions system components for its broad range of commercial vehicle and outdoor power customers.
Manufacturing executive Alejandro Martinez will lead the Monterrey operation, with employment expected to total 220 production and administrative personnel within 12-16 months.
Significance: These developments align with Nelson's global strategic growth plan and is in direct response to OEM customers who are seeking local technical and manufacturing support and reduced logistics costs from their supplier partners. Monterrey is Nelson's fifth international location. It will have six facilities by the end of this year when a second plant in India opens.
Over the past year, Nelson announced its second acquisition in Brazil -- with the latest being a structural tube manufacturer–-TuboPress in Araucaria, Brazil. It is supported by the manufacturing operation at Envall in Santa Rosa, Rio Grande do Sul.
Other facilities in the Nelson manufacturing network that build similar products in the U.S. for other OEM customers include those operations in Clinton, TN, Black River Falls, WI, and Cambridge, MN.
