Japanese vehicle production rises 7.1% y/y in February, exports decline 6%
Japanese domestic vehicle output increased for the sixth consecutive month in February.
The Japan Automobile Manufacturers' Association (JAMA) today (31 March) released its vehicle production and export data for February. According to the data, Japanese automakers produced a total of 863,397 vehicles at their domestic plants in February, up 7.1% year on year (y/y). By vehicle type, passenger car output increased 7.5% y/y during the month to 741,376 units, truck output rose 4.8% y/y to 109,997 units, and bus production increased 3.1% y/y to 12,024 units.
