Turkish vehicle production slides 8% y/y during Q1

Pressure on production continues to come from the commercial vehicle segment awhile passenger car production is growing strongly.

Turkish vehicle production fell 8% year on year (y/y) in the first quarter of 2014 according to the latest data published by the Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). The number of vehicles produced fell to 255,492 units in the period, although this was propped up by a 17% y/y increase in passenger car output to 166,405 units. The first-quarter total was not helped by a 3.0% y/y decline in vehicle production during March to 97,310 units, although passenger car output did rise by 14% y/y to 61,149 units during the month.
