Mitsubishi to strengthen R&D at Thai subsidiary

Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Co (MMT) given additional responsibilities which include parts procurement.

Mitsubishi has revealed plans that will strengthen research and development (R&D) at its Thai subsidiary. According to a company press release, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Co (MMT) has been given additional responsibilities, broadening its mandate beyond vehicle manufacturing to also include development, quality testing, and parts procurement. As part of the plan, which will be carried out in three phases, the automaker is investing over 500 million baht (USD15.4 million) to establish its first testing course outside Japan in Thailand. The new testing course will be located at Nhongkham Amphur, Chonburi, Thailand, and is slated to begin operations during the first quarter of 2015.
