PSA Peugeot-Citroën contemplates 301 production in South Africa
Looking for partners to assemble the model.
French carmaker PSA Peugeot-Citroën is expected to finalise plans to assemble the Peugeot 301 sedan by the end of this month, according to French Collection, which cites a report published in Engineering News. South Africa has reportedly emerged as the leading contender for production of the budget model, which is largely aimed at emerging markets. Quoting Francis Harnie, head of the group's South African unit, the report says that Peugeot-Citroën South Africa may assemble between 7,000 and 15,000 cars per year for the local market and for export.
