Series production of the 9-3 EV will start in 2015,

National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) has started pilot production of its first electrically powered vehicles based on the Saab 9-3, reports Sweden's Auto Motor & Sport citing Sveriges Radio P4 West. The cars are being built on the regular assembly line in Trollhättan (Sweden). The first 200 9-3 electric vehicles (EVs) will be tested in Qingdao in Shandong (China) with shipments starting later this year. Series production of the 9-3 EV will start in 2015, it added. According to the publication, the range of the car will initially be around 124 miles, but this is expected to increase as battery development increases.
