Toyota Central R&D Labs develops 10 kW 'free piston engine linear generator' for EVs
Pair of such units enable EVs to cruise 120 km/h
Toyota Central R&D Labs has developed a prototype 10 kW Free Piston Engine Linear Generator (FPEG), wherein a pair of such units (20 kW) will enable B/C segment electric vehicles (EVs) to cruise at 120 km/h (75 miles), according to Green Car Congress quoting papers presented by the team at the recent SAE 2014 World Congress in Detroit, United States.
