MIIT releases new diesel standards for China
New emission regulation will significantly promote the central government’s mandate to control the rising air pollution levels by the reduction of vehicle emissions
China’s state regulatory body has released a new set of diesel emission regulations set to curb the rise in pollution levels across China. On 23 April, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released that the announcement of the national stage III vehicle emission standard (National III) on diesel vehicles would be abolished as of 31 December 2014, and that the new standards of National level IV will be effective from 1 January 2015, following which diesel vehicles with National III level emission standard will be forbidden to be sold in China.
