Tesla will begin construction at two gigafactory sites
Tesla is preparing to launch the Model S and needs the volume of battery pack production to meet its production needs, as well as to ensure that prices fall.
Tesla's Elon Musk is close to naming at least two sites for its planned gigafactory plant. The current plan, according to Bloomberg, is to break ground at both sites to ensure at least one is ready to supply lithium-ion packs when needed. Tesla has ruled out California as a location due to timing issues for regulatory reviews, but Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas are all under consideration.
