General Motors (GM) recalls 218,000 Chevrolet Aveos, Optras and 283,000 vehicles in Brazil, overhauls legal department
GM is overhauling the structure of its legal office to prevent recall delays.
General Motors (GM) has recalled an additional 218,000 Chevrolet Aveos, 2004 to 2008 model-years, in the United States, as well as 214 sold as the Chevrolet Optra in US territories. The recall covers a part in the daytime running lights, which could overheat and cause a fire. All the vehicles affected were built in South Korea. GM is investigating whether vehicles sold outside of the US need to be recalled as well, reports Automotive News. GM is aware of some incidents of fires, but no reports of injuries or fatalities. Additionally, Automotive Business reports that GM is recalling 238,360 vehicles in Brazil for non-compliance in production, which may cause a fuel leak near the tank and increases risk of fire.
