Honda India to add second shift at Tapukara plant
New shift will boost the plant's capacity utilisation to 100% - further expansion has not been ruled out
Honda Cars India plans to boost vehicle production at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, reports the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency. The automaker aims to achieve higher output by adding a new working shift within seven to eight months. "Currently we are producing our cars in only one shift at Tapukara. With growing demand for our cars, we will go for full capacity of the plant in the last three-four months of this fiscal year," Honda Cars India's senior vice-president and director for sales and marketing, Shigeru Yamazaki, said. The plant currently operates a single shift with the capacity to produce 60,000 units per year.
