General Motors (GM) is keen to increase production at its light commercial vehicle (LCV) facility in Luton (United Kingdom), reports the Financial Times (FT). Chairman and managing director of Vauxhall Motors, Tim Tozer has told the newspaper in an interview: "It is our desire and intention to go to a second shift... We are preparing." The senior executive said that the automaker was expecting "great demand" for the second-generation Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro which it manufactures, and that it would increase around 60% of its output should the additional shift come on stream, as opposed to 50% at present. Unnamed sources have also revealed to the newspaper that senior staff at the site have been told that a third shift could also be added eventually if there is higher than expected demand or a decision is taken to export vehicles to new markets.
