Spanish light-vehicle production rises in May
Increase in production largely reflects the demand from export markets.
Light-vehicle production has continued to be buoyant during May according to the latest data published by the country's vehicle manufacturers' association, ANFAC. The group revealed in a statement that the number of passenger cars built during the month increased by 1.0% year on year (y/y) to 177,386 units. However, the larger improvement in the year to date (YTD) remains in place, with an expected rise of 5.0% y/y to 806,828 units. Sport utility vehicles (SUVs) have rebounded this month with production having increased by 12.8% y/y to 3,691 units, which helped cut some of the declines this category has seen in the YTD, and which now stands down by 5.9% y/y at 16,379 units.
