Chrysler to recall older Jeeps on ignition switch concerns, checking shocks on 21,000 new models
Chrysler is conducting the recall "out of an abundance of caution" while engineers work to develop a remedy.
Chrysler Group announced two recall actions on 22 July, in company press releases. The larger covers 792,300 Jeep products that have been recalled "in connection with an investigation of ignition-switch performance". The vehicles impacted include 2005–07 Jeep Grand Cherokees and 2006–07 Jeep Commanders, with 649,900 in the United States, 28,800 in Canada, 12,800 in Mexico, and 100,800 outside of NAFTA.
