Japanese vehicle output rises 6.6% y/y in June, exports down 4% y/y
Japanese domestic vehicle output managed to stay in positive territory during June, increasing for the 10th consecutive month.
The Japan Automobile Manufacturers' Association (JAMA) today (31 July) released its vehicle production and export data for June. According to the data, Japanese automakers produced a total of 857,317 vehicles at their domestic plants in June, up 6.6% year on year (y/y). By vehicle type, passenger car output increased 7.0% y/y during the month to 727,606 units, truck output rose 4.1% y/y to 117,512 units, and bus production grew 5.8% y/y to 12,199 units. For the January-June period, industry vehicle output stood at 5.066 million units, up 8.7% y/y.
