GM trims production on Cadillac ATS and CTS

The Lansing Grand River Assembly plant will close for the week of 18 August 2014 and resume production on 8 September.

General Motors (GM) will idle the Michigan plant building the Cadillac ATS and CTS for three weeks to reduce inventory. The Lansing Grand River Assembly plant will close for the week of 18 August 2014 and resume production on 8 September, Automotive News reports citing a GM spokesperson as saying the company doesn't comment on production schedules, but that it is "matching supply to demand". Automotive News says GM had 15,100 ATS sedans on dealer lots or in transit as of 1 August, and 16,900 units of CTS. At the current pace, the report says this is a 152-day supply of the ATS and 215-day supply of the CTS. Other vehicles in high supply include the XTS and the ELR. The plant runs on two shifts with 1,600 workers.
